Crafted of oak and incorporating dramatic purple cabinetry, this kitchen is an antidote to all the white and gray designs around. “I like color and enjoy putting some into my kitchens,” says Stephen Graver, who designed this striking room. “There are a lot of gray kitchens out there!”
Bright color behind open shelves. Anyone can do this — just remove the doors from your upper cabinets and paint the backs a bright hue. Match the wall color, as shown here, for a seamless look.
Color and pattern mixed. Why stop with color or pattern when you can have both? This creative kitchen mixes it up with a warm pink hue applied behind half of the upper cabinets and the upper part of the wall, and a bold wallpaper design behind the bottom half of the upper cabinets.
Splash of Yellow. This appealing, light-filled kitchen sports a band of color at the backsplash and via the dining chairs. This is a great option for someone who wants a very light, soothing and restrained palette but with a little twist.
