Lemon yellow. No matter how sleepy the homeowners are, this bright farmhouse kitchen must perk them right up in the morning. A pitcher of sunflowers is right at home in the yummy lemon yellow room. Note the way the designers painted the trim to match the cabinets. They did this around the windows and doors as well as on a narrow piece of molding around the ceiling to continue the brightness around the room.
Bored with plain white subway tile and “greige” walls? Tired of making design choices based on what you think a future buyer might want? These 12 ideas prove that kitchens don’t need to be cookie cutter — in fact, they’re a lot more fun when you personalize your space exactly the way you want it. Let them satisfy your craving for color and creativity.
Warm, Rich Kitchen Palette. This kitchen makes me want to eat! And definitely drink some wine. The color red is said to be an appetite stimulant, which is why most fine dining establishments are painted shades of red rather than, say, green or blue. Red can be tricky to work with, though, because it tends to suck all the light from a room. Instead of painting your walls red, try using red in smaller chunks, such as the red range featured in an earlier kitchen, or as used here, in these beautiful cranberry-red cabinets.
Sky blue. This home’s style is a Victorian-bohemian mashup, and it certainly shows in the kitchen. The sky blue paint on the cabinetry is calmed a bit by a waxed finish and complemented by gold and deep-orange hues.
